Ahhh, Rejection

Hello Ya'll,
I guess I need to get over this feeling.
Yesterday, EC took me out to buy me a digital camera. One with which to photograph my Quilts, or pieces thereof, to post on this site. We were going out to get in the car and , as an aside, EC asked me to get the mail.
Three things were in the mail box, things at which I never look, but EC's eagle I spotted. There it was, addressed to me. I told EC, "either this is very good news, or very bad news." As it turns out, it was the bad.
The letter was from the International Quilt Association and, yes, it was a rejection letter. It was a very long rejection letter, but at the end of a long first paragraph, it did say my entry in the Quilt Festival had been rejected. The term they used was, "not accepted", but rejected none the less.
Well, I have tried not to think about it. After all, I'm not dead or anything like that. However, it does sting a bit. I thought my Quilt was a good effort, one that would add a bit to the overall event that is "Quilt Houston". They didn't agree. The letter, from Charlotte Warr Andersen herself, went on to explain about the number of Quilts entered and how some had to be eliminated, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, it is a 'low Chic' that I am.
On a high note, we did get me a camera. Those of you who know me, know that directions are not something that I get, and there is a book full of them, but hopefully, soon there will be photos to accompany my writtings. The very first of which will be some of that 'Fussy Cutting' that has been taking up all my time of late.
We'll talk more later, when I pass this 'Blue State'.
I am still,
CAW, Quilter

Hi again! Congratulations on your new camera! I CAN'T WAIT to see your pics. Tell EC hi for me. I'm not sewing yet..too much other stuff to do right now. We took a much needed vacation (have had 1 week vac. in past 6 yrs since our honeymoon) & spent all our AMEX points...went to Italy for 10 days. It was amazing! Has taken us about 4 days to get over jet lag. Trying to catch up now.

By the way, your quilting that I've seen on your blog is FABULOUS! The Houston show must be huge and don't let that little thing keep you down. You know who you are!

By the way, I've been wanting to ask you (since nearly EVERY time I've washed dishes in the past 45 or so years I think of you)...are you still the FASTEST dishwasher in the world? I know you have a dishwasher, but I'm remember you hand washing dishes when we were teenagers!

Funny the things that stick with us. I guess the good news is that something still sticks with me!

Love again, R

Dear Ramona,
What a wonderful trip. I cannot imagin how fabulous your trip must have been. Where in Italy did you go?
I've been away, also. Just to North Carolina to see my sister Susan. She lives in the Smoky Mts. and it is so beautiful.
I am in the process of trying to figure out how to post the photos. Once I do that I hope to show them. So far, no luck.
We'll catch up later,
Carol Ann

Ramona,
I still have to wash all my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher.
However, I don't remember a thing about washing dishes as a teenager or otherwise. That must be the bad news.
It is funny, the things we remember.

Good to hear from you again! We went to Rome for 4 days, then Florence for 5. Loved it all, except too much walking in the heat 6-8 hrs/day! Loved all the statues, art, fountains, piazzas, beautiful countryside, the food was great, people nice...WANT TO GO BACK, but think we'll see THIS country next.

I too wash my dishes before putting them in DW...sad, isn't it?

More later, Love, R
